Well, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout this place called El Molino de Oro. It’s down there in Orange, California, and let me tell ya, folks, it’s got some mighty fine Mexican food, I reckon! Now, if you ever find yourself wanderin’ through that area, you should stop by, ’cause they sure know how to put together a plate of food that’ll fill your belly right up!
Now, don’t go expectin’ no fancy sit-down restaurant, ’cause this place is casual, just the way I like it. You ain’t gonna get no fancy waiter servin’ you with a napkin tucked under his chin. No sir, you walk up, you order, and they get it to ya quick. But, don’t let that fool ya, the food’s got all the right flavors. From what I hear, they got some real tasty huevos rancheros—that’s eggs with a bit of spice on ‘em, if you ain’t heard. And for them who love tacos, they ain’t skimping on them either. Soft, warm tortillas with all kinds of fillings—beef, chicken, pork…you name it, they got it.
Let me tell ya ‘bout the tamales though. You ever had one of those? It’s like they’ve wrapped up a little piece of heaven in corn husk. It’s soft, it’s savory, and when you bite into it, you just want to close your eyes and savor every second.
Oh, and don’t forget them burritos. Now, if you’re lookin’ for something that’ll really stick to your ribs, you better order one of them big ol’ burritos. They ain’t small, that’s for sure. Big, packed with beans, meat, rice… and, oh boy, don’t get me started on the cheese. It’s the kind of meal that fills ya up and makes ya feel like you’re home cookin’ in the best way.
But it ain’t just the food that’s good. This place has them fresh aguas frescas—kinda like sweet fruit drinks, you know? You get a glass of that, and it’ll cool ya down real nice. They got all sorts of flavors, too. From the tangy taste of agua de jamaica (that’s hibiscus, folks) to sweet agua de piña (pineapple), it’ll quench your thirst like nothin’ else.
One thing I gotta say, though, is that it’s a cozy little place. Not too big, not too small. Feels like home. You can see the folks behind the counter workin’ real hard, making your food with care, and that’s something I respect. I reckon they know how to make you feel right at home with their warmth and that delicious food.
If you’re ever in the area, you gotta stop by El Molino de Oro. It’s a treat for the taste buds, and I ain’t kiddin’. Just thinking about it now, I feel like makin’ myself a taco or two. But I can’t, I’m too far away. Guess I’ll just have to wait till the next time I find myself in Orange. Till then, you go and enjoy it for me!
