And if ya got kids, Golden’s got good schools too. Way back, it had the second school in all of Colorado. Now, it’s part of the Jefferson County R-1 School District. Them kids get a good education, and that’s real important.
Now, Golden ain’t just ’bout mountains and schools. It’s got culture too. Museums all over the place. You got the Golden History Museum, the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, the Colorado Railroad Museum, and don’t forget the Colorado School of Mines. Lots to see and do if ya like learnin’ ’bout the past.
Government-wise, Golden’s what they call a home rule city. They got themselves a city council and a city manager runnin’ the show. Keeps things organized and runnin’ smooth. Folks there got a say in how things go, and that’s how they like it.
Golden’s got itself some nice trails too. One of ’em is the South Table Mountain Trail. It’s ’bout 2 miles long and you gain ’bout 482 feet in elevation. Ain’t too tough, but gives ya a nice walk and some good views. Lots of folks enjoy a good hike out there.
